Building the event beyond the logo.

Building the event beyond the logo.

Role — Event Design, Brand Design, Environmental Graphics

The High School Sports Awards recognized student athletes from high schools across Utah. Working from an existing event logo, I was the sole designer responsible for the broader event system: stage graphics, medals, posters, hanging banners, hoodies and presentation design. I did not design the main event logo.

Layered athlete photography, yellow panels and clear sponsor placements carried the visual system onto the stage. The same black, white and yellow treatment extended into photo backdrops and venue banners.

Monochrome athlete photographs and angled yellow typography connect the poster series. Hanging banners adapt the same visual language to a different format, with black and yellow variations that keep the athlete’s name prominent.

The event treatment also needed to work at a smaller scale. Medals, awards graphics and athlete name badges carry the existing logo and consistent typography into the pieces participants received and wore.

The presentation deck carried the same photography, yellow headers and white accents into award categories and nominee information. The screen photograph shows that treatment in use, alongside the printed event program.
